There’s one month left before the biggest sport event of spring 2015 – the Winters Deaflympics in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Organizing Committee of the competitions continues the complicated process of getting ready to this major sport event. According to the latest information, 26 national teams are going to participate in these Deaflympics. However, the application process is going on till the end of February, so the final list of countries and participants will be known on March’01.
Besides, the application for taking part in the Deaflympic torch relay is in full swing. The organizers invite people from Ugra and other country regions to send their application forms and to take part in this event. Any person can become a torch bearer. You only need to fill the required form and to sign and to send it to the Organizing Committee. Every candidate needs to answer a question – «Why shall I become a torch bearer? »
«I want to be a torch bearer to show respect to my friend who will be participating in Deaflympics as a member of snowboarding team», – wrote a torch bearer candidate Alexey Sokolov from Novosibirsk. Alexey was born deaf. He will take part in the Deaflympics as a volunteer.
«I am a cross-country skier myself and I understand how difficult it is to overcome failure and what happiness you feel when you are finishing with a good result», – wrote Natalia Sitnik from Surgut in her application form.
18 people will be taking part in the Deaflympic torch relay as torch bearers. It will take place on March’28’2015 on the day of the opening of the XVIII Winter Deaflympics.
It is to be noted that, representatives of different regional and national media are showing big interest in the forthcoming Games. At the moment applications for working on the Deaflympics are received from 50 media companies.
A big cultural program is prepared for the visitors of the Deaflympics coming to Khanty-Mansiysk from all parts of the world. Every evening at 20:15 the awarding ceremonies celebrating the winners of the competitions and contests will be held on the central square of the city. Besides, museums, the cultural centers of Ugra will be ready to welcome all the visitors.
