The first trainings of deaf cross-country skiers took place in the Alexander Filipenko Winter Sports Center of the capital of Deaflympics 2015. The program of competitions includes skiathlon, sprint, mass-start, relay and team sprint. Around 70 athletes will participate in the races.
Athletes from 11 countries will take part in men’s races, 6 countries will participate in women’s competitions.
The chief coach of Russian cross-country skiing team Mikhail Grinyov has shared his opinion on the readiness of the venue to hold the Deaflympic competitions.
“The tracks are perfect, weather conditions are great, our team is in a very good mood and they are ready to do as much as they can on the races. As for our goals, we want to have gold in every discipline! We will do our best to become the leaders of unofficial medal count. As we are competing in our home country, this is the only way for us”, – said the coach of Russian team.
The first cross-country skiing competitions will start on March’29 in the Winter Sports Centre. The entrance is free of charge.
