Canada defeats Finland with lopsided score

One more game of group stage of the deaf hockey tournament was played on “Arena-Ugra”. Canada celebrated the third victory in a row defeating Finland with the score 7:1.

The first goal of the game was scored by Andrew Hughes of Canada. Then Mathew Sheffield made the score 2:0 for maple leaves. 3 minutes before the end of the period Canada scored again in powerplay.

In the 2nd period each team scored one goal. Canada played tough and aggressively that resulted in injury of player from Finland.

In the last 20 minutes of the game Jesse McIntyre scored 5th goal in the net of Finland, Andrew Hughes performed hat trick and Ryan Khovitchenko scored the last goal thus making the final score 7:1 for Canada.

«Of cause I am happy that we were able to score at least one goal. We were hoping to play better today, but we missed the support of the audience. Today we were playing tough but failed to seize the right moments during our powerplay», – said the author of the only goal of Finland Victor Lindfors.

It is to be reminded that one more deaf hockey game will be played today at 7:00 p.m. on “Arena Ugra” – Russia vs. USA.
