The last medal event of the XVIII Winter Deaflympics in Khanty-Mansiysk in cross-country skiing was held on Saturday. The victory of Vladimir Mayorov confirmed the leadership of Russia in this discipline. Russian team won all gold medals in cross-country skiing.
The winner of the 9th gold medals said that he devoted this victory to his fans, family and friends: «I was not sure I would be able to outrun Andriy Andriyishyn but on finish I felt my spirits revived. I was doing my best for the fans as this is the last cross-country discipline of the Deaflympics 2015. Now I will have rest and reunite with my family, and then I’ll be training for my next competitions. Tomorrow I will watch the hockey game of our team. I am sure that the game Russia vs. Canada will be very exciting. Wishlucktobothteams!».
The bronze-winner of men’s mass-start Sergey Yermilov said that he feels pity that the Deaflympics are close to their end: «I was almost absolutely sure that Russia will win all the gold of cross-country skiing. Now we will be training for the next Deaflympics in order to show the same perfect results in 4 years. I would like to stay in Khanty-Mansiysk longer; athletes from many countries became good friends. Now I am overwhelmed with joy and I will not hide it when I meet my family. I want to wish luck to all young athletes; they need to train hard to improve their skills and to follow their goals in life».
