Russian national skiing team is training in Khanty-Mansiysk

For getting ready for the Deaflympics from November’14 till November’29 Russian national skiing team is having training session in The Alexander Philipenko Winter Sport Centre in Ugra capital.

The national team consists of 14 athletes who will represent our country on the Deaflympics in Khanty-Mansiysk, 5 of them are from Ugra. In March 8 male athletes, including masters of sports Alexander Degtyannikov, Sergey Ermilov, Vladimir Mayorov – are going to participate in sprint, duathlon, mass-start and relay. Female athletes will have less races: there will be no relay and complex race. 4 female athletes that are going to take part in the competitions are the honored masters of sports – Raisa Golovina, Lyubov Misharina, Natalia Smirnova, Anna Fedulova, and also two young athletes – Ekaterina Belova and Tatiana Gorbunova – are included in the team.

According to the chief coach of the Russian national team in Deaflympic skiing Mikhail Grinyov, the main aim of the training session in Khanty-Mansiysk is to get accustomed with the courses and making some control testing. «The whole team is in good, working shape. There’s a bit more than 100 days left before the Deaflympics, during this time the athletes are going to have several training sessions: after Khanty-Mansiysk the team is going to Arkhangelsk, then the athletes will be training together with their regional teams, after this the national team is going to reunite in Sochi. The control races of the athletes are planned for the Championships of Russia, in Perm.
