Deaflympic teams were spending the day without competitions in different ways: some were training, some were having rest is their hotels, and the team of Finland had a sightseeing tour around Khanty-Mansiysk.
During the excursion athletes and their coaches visited the Cathedral of Resurrection and the Archaeopark of Ugra capital. Guests of Khanty-Mansiysk were very impressed by bronze sculptures of animals.
A coach of the team of Finland Harry Lindstrom Valmentaja told that he wanted to see Ugra for a long time:
“Khanty-Mansiysk is a wonderful city! It is very compact and small, however, you have a lot of places of interest here, – said a coach from Finland. – I heard about Khanty-Mansiysk before, because I am a fan of biathlon and watch biathletes from Finland participating in the races here. I like mammoths and now I understand why this animal was chosen as the mascot of the Games”.
CeciliaHanhikoski, a silver-medalist of Deaflympics in snowboarding was very surprised: “I liked the city, it impressed me more than I expected. I can’t mark out some specific place, but I have very pleasant impressions about the whole city in general. As for my plans for the future, I want to win medals in halfpipe!”
