The Alexander Filipenko Winter Sport Center

The Alexander Filipenko Winter Sport Center in Khanty-Mansiysk is a stadium with international category «A» according to the classification of International Biathlon Union (IBU) for holding biathlon, summer biathlon, cross country skiing, archery biathlon competitions and others. The Center began operating in 1997. It is located in the ecological zone of nature park “Samarovsky Chugas”. Scenic beauty, a modern shooting range and comfortable stands provide unforgettable impression and pleasure both for fans and participants.

The Center is located in the central part of Khanty-Mansiysk at a height of 83 meters above sea level, 7,5 km from the international airport of Khanty-Mansiysk and 2,5 km from the central square. Courses are at a height between 63 and 114 meters above sea level. The Center occupies an area of 148387 sq. m. The total length of the courses is over 15 km. The total capacity is about 13000 people, including the stands with the capacity of 9700 spectators.

Today Khanty-Mansiysk biathlon center is a sport venue functioning all the year round. It includes the following facilities:

  • Children’s sports school, including shooting range;
  • An open shooting range of 50 meters long with 30 targets;
  • Ski test area;
  • 75 team cabins;
  • 28 commentator cabins;
  • Spectator stands (North, South, VIP, North-East);
  • VIP-pavilion for 450-500 seats;
  • Ski-roller track;
  • Bridges and crossover;
  • Bridge;
  • Office and technical building under the North stand – rooms for secretariat, a technical delegate, international referees, a chief of competition, timing, etc. can be located;
  • OC-Centre and Media-Centre;

The three-star hotel “On Seven Hills” is located in 50 meters from the main stand.
