The official farewell ceremony in honor of the team of Russian participating in the XVIII Winter Deaflympics that will be held from March’28 till April’05 in Khanty-Mansiysk and Magnitogorsk has taken place on Poklonnaya Gora, Moscow.
The inspiring speeches to deaf athletes were said by the representatives of the Administration of the President of Russian Federation, the Government, the Federal Council, the State Duma, The Ministry of Sport, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Paralympic Committee as well as famous athletes and public figures of Russia.
During the ceremony Russian athletes that participated in Summer Deaflympics 2013 have passed the flag of the Russian Committee of Deaf Sports to our national team that will take part in Deaflympics 2015. Deaf athletes have sworn an oath that they will compete in accordance with all the rules and principles of fair play.
Around 350 athletes from 27 countries will participate in the Deaflympics. This is the biggest number of athletes for these competitions. The program of the Games includes 5 sport disciplines.
The Deaflympic team of Russia includes 157 people, among them 76 athletes, 25 coaches, 13 doctors and 43 officials, says the general media partner of the competitions – sport editors office “R-Sport” of the media group IIA “Russia today”.
