The program of the sixth day of Deaflympic competitions

Today, April’03 is the sixth competition day of the XVIII Winter Deaflympics in Khanty-Mansiysk and Magnitogorsk. Athletes will compete in 4 medal events.

In “Khvoyny Urman” snowboarders will compete in parallel slalom. Russian athletes will be the favorites of competition. They have demonstrated their mastership in March’30 in parallel giant slalom winning 4 medals in 2 medals events. Qualificationswillstartat 9:30 a.m.  Russia will be represented by 13 athletes: women – Yekaterina Lyusina, Svetlana Anisimova, Maria Kapustkina, Maria Podorovskaya, Anna Surmilina, Uliana Golubeva and Ella Shevlyakova, men – Igor Ishatenko, Nikita Komissarov, Stanislav Sokolov, Alexey Ignatenko, Nikita Diakov and  Roman Khamitsevich. Finals will be held at 2:00 p.m..

The last competitions in alpine skiing – giant slalom – will be held today in the alpine skiing center “Metallurg-Magnitogorsk” in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk region and then athletes will fly back to Khanty-Mansiysk. At the moment for Russian team alpine skiing is the only discipline without medals of the Deaflympics (of cause, not mentioning curling where games for medals are not played yet). The following athletes will be trying to improve the statistics today: women – Maria Odinets, Anna Loseva, Angelina Khamitsevich and Marina Zvereva and man – Denis Yaberdin, Alexander Yakovlev, Ilia Ivanov and Denislav Ogaryov. The first attempt starts at 8:00 a.m., second attempt begins at 11:00 a.m..

The round robin of men’s curling tournament will end today in the Ice Palace of Khanty-Mansiysk. The team of Russia has already lost its chances for medals of the Deaflympics, so the game against Ukraine that hasn’t got to semifinals too will be a simple formality. The game starts at 9:30 a.m.

As for women’s curling tournament, cross-country skiing and ice-hockey, today is a day-off for these disciplines.
