Yesterday was the final day of the Biathlon World Cup Final held in Ugra. The world’s best biathletes have passed the victory baton to deaf athletes that will arrive to Khanty-Mansiysk in a few days.
It’s to be reminded that his initiative came from the acting governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova during the official Opening Ceremony of the World Cup.
“We propose you to participate in this humanitarian Olympic initiative – the Victory relay. Those of you who will show the best results will pass your wishes and messages to deaf athletes. We want this to become the 101st percent that will bring you your personal victory”, – said Natalia Komarova to biathletes.
The autographs with their wished were given by Martin Fourcade, Anton Shipulin, Darya Domracheva, Kaisa Makarainen, etc.
And a four-time Olympic champion in biathlon Emil Hegle Svendsen has invited sport fans to Khanty-Mansiysk to watch the Winter Deaflympics using sign language. “I wish all the handicapped athletes luck and think it’s a great honor participate in competitions on the same stadium with them. I wish all people to go in for sport no matter if they have any physical disability or not”, – said the athlete.
It is to be reminded that the Winter Deaflympics (the World Games for deaf and hard-of-hearing people) will start in Khanty-Mansiysk on March’28. The competitions will end on April’05.
