The volunteers of the Centre of adaptive sport of Ugra have told about the forthcoming Deaflympics to the participants of the regional festival of young journalists «SMIshka-2014».
The forum of young journalists took place in Khanty-Mansiysk from 6th to 8th of November. 60 pupils and students from different parts of Ugra have participated in it.
The youngsters have learnt the basics of journalism, had meetings with the professionals of this sphere, took part in the press conferences.
During the presentation the volunteers have told the journalists about the home Deaflympics, about deaf athletes they are friends with and about the volunteer club “Respect” of the Centre of adaptive sport of Ugra. They have shown how to communicate with deaf people with the help of sign language.
«On this festival I am presenting the TV and radio company of a school of Lugovskoy village, – said a participant from Khanty-Mansiysk region Diana Popova. – I don’t understand teenagers who are arrogant towards physically challenged people. People with disabilities are like us and sometimes even better than us. We have a very talented musician in our village. He plays an accordion magnificently although he has hearing problems and uses a special hearing device. For the People with Disabilities Day our TV studio is preparing a film about physically challenged people and making a concert for them. It is great tha Khanty-Mansiysk is going to host the Deaflympics. I will be watching this event on TV and will be supporting our team, Next year I am going to start studying in Khanty-Mansiysk and I would like to join the volunteers».
